Full Description

This is a book by a distinguished scholar who served in the Reagan administration on the Council of Economic Advisors in the first years of the Reagan presidency. The primary objective of the book, to use the author's words, is 'to explain the origins of Reaganomics; what policy changes were proposed and implemented, the relation between changes in policy and changes in the economy, and the probable future of Reaganomics. Most of the source material for this book is available from public records. My interpretation of these events, however, is strongly shaped by my personal experience as both a supporter and internal critic, both as a participant and witness to these events.' The book, then, is an economist's view of the Reagan economic policies that takes the point of view that the growth of government is wrong. Though the author says the book 'is not a personal memoir', it does offer glimpses of the inner workings of the Reagan administration as it debated and implemented policy. Economists; political scientists.
