Don't expect earth shattering stuff. Alexander is not a pioneer in ideas, but book proved quite useful as a documentary on latest ideas in teaching sociology. Touches subjects a little more in depth, so could prove useful for the university student but I would not think it was useful enough for an advanced learner or researcher. But it will prove fascinating for a historian in years to come as Alexander's ideas reflect recent thinking in sociology which are already in the process of being replaced by new ideas. Alexander's lectures may therefore prove an excellent insightful read in years to come!
